History of Tabex® tablets
TABEX® IS AN ORIGINAL BULGARIAN HERBAL MEDICINAL PRODUCT OF PLANT ORIGIN WITH OVER 40 YEARS OF RESEARCH
For over 40 years Tabex has helped millions in Eastern Europe to quit smoking. Tabex UK and Worldwide! We now ship to all destinations Worldwide!
In the distant 1865 acad. А. Orehov found out and chemically analysed the alkaloid cytisine contained in Family Papilionaceae and is the main active substance of TABEX®. Cytisine belongs to the group of nicotine blockers that are known in clinical practice as respiration stimulators. The pharmacological study of cytisine at the Pharmacology Department of the Sofia Medical Institute started as early as in the 50s of the last century and their aim was to create an ampoule dosage form for the needs of resuscitation. During experimental studies on anaesthetised cats, two famous Bulgarian pharmacologists – Prof. Paskov and Dr. Dobrev reached to the important conclusion that due to its lower toxicity than nicotine and mostly to its weaker peripheral effect on the cardiovascular system, cytisine can be used as a smoking cessation device, as it interacts with the same receptors in human body together with nicotine.
The intriguing thing in that story is that half a century ago two heavy smokers-pharmacologists arrived at the good idea how to give an opportunity to the cigarettes-dependent individuals to go through the abstinence syndrome easily (a condition of bad mood, anxiety, headache, etc.), accompanying the cigarette quitting period and at the same time to feel stimulated, as cytisine also has confirmed anti-depressive effect.
In 1962 in Bulgaria Prof. Isaev isolated cytisine from the golden chain plant and started an intensive research on the creation of the original medicinal product TABEX®. Large clinical trials in Bulgaria, Germany and Poland followed that confirmed the efficacy and most of all the need of positive attitude in smoking cessation attempts.
It is well known that depressive moods and abstinence syndrome are psychic conditions, that accompany any dependency, that are most difficult to overcome. The extensive clinical research conducted in Bulgaria and abroad confirmed this advantage of TABEX® – trademark of Sopharma.
Names and Dates
Hussman and Marme (1863) isolated cytisine – white crystalline powder with bitter taste
Dale and Laidlow (1912) discovered the pharmacological resemblance between nicotine and cytisine
Zachowski (1937) confirmed the above results discovered
Mashkovski (1938) worked on the creation of a respiratory cytisine-containing analeptic
Paskov and Dobrev (1953) discovered that cytisine could be used for abstinence syndrome treatment provoked by smoking cessation due to
- lower toxicity than nicotine
- weaker peripheral effect on the circulatory system
- interaction with the same receptors
Isaev (1962) isolated and standardized cytisine out of Cytisus laburnum.
Daleva and Sheykova (1963) conducted pharmacological studies on cytisine.
The technology for Tabex ® manufacture was developed during the period 1962-1964. In September 1964 the first batch of 3685 Tabex packages was manufactured.

How Tabex® Works?
Tabex is a medicinal product against smoking. Please be aware that it is not a drug of any kind however a completely natural based product made from a plant extract. It is available to purchase without a prescription. Worldwide interest has grown in recent years due to its effectiveness.
Tabex has a comprehensive effect on pathogenetic mechanisms of nicotine dependence:
- The alkaloid cytisine is a powerful antagonist of nicotine receptors.
- Cytisine has wider therapeutic range than nicotine which makes its profile of action safer.
- Cytisine reduces depressive symptoms related to discontinuation of nicotine intoxication.
- Compared to nicotine, it has much weaker effect on the peripheral nervous system and blood pressure
Inside your brain
Cytisine is an agonist of the cholinoreceptors from vegetative ganglia and belong to the group of gangliostimulating drugs. It excites the nicotine very sensitive cholinoreceptors of the postsynaptic membranes at the vegetative ganglia, chromaffin cells at the molecular part of the suprarenal gland and sinocarotid reflexogenic area, which results in excitation of the respiratory center, mainly throughout the reflexes, simulation of adrenaline release by the medullary side of the suprarenal glands and a growth in the blood pressure. Following its absorption from the gastrointestinal tract, cytisine plays the role of a smoking replacement substance that decreases the period of interaction between smoking and the corresponding receptors.
This subsequently leads to the gradual decrease and cessation of smokers and bodily nicotine addiction. Many researchers confirm in various pharmacological experiments the connection between the medicinal properties of cytisine and tobacco, as described by Dale & Laidlaw and is also supported by conclusions ofmore potent as ganglion-stimulating than as ganglioblocking Zachowsky, Anichkov, Dobrev and Paskov, Daleva, etc.more potent as ganglion-stimulating than as ganglioblocking significantly more potent as ganglion-stimulating than as ganglioblocking broker. Comparable effects of the two drugs were obtained in experiments on smoking and cytisine is much more quantitative than qualitative. Comparable effects of the two drugs were obtained in experiments on rats and cats, or on guinea pig ileum and rat diaphragm, the doses of cytisine being 1/4 to 2/3 from the smoking dose. System, Cytisine has a weaker nerve system, Cytisine has a weaker influence in comparison nerve system.

Safety and Clinical studies of Tabex®
Tabex cytisine has been clinically tested on a number of patients. Stoyanov S. And Yanachkova M. One of the creators of Cytisine studied 70 volunteers with a long expertise in smoking cessation and discovered that 57 percent of patients stopped smoking at 31.4 percent the result was partial: reduction of the cigarettes smoked from 20-30 to 3-4 per day. Results were negative in 11 percent of patients that is due to the early stopping of Tabex: before the 3rd day of therapy - an amount of time needed to saturate the organism with cytisine. In the second group of 17 smokers with acute diseases, the administration of Tabex together with antipsychotics, antidepressants and insulin directed 5 patients to quit smoking and induced decrease.
Consequently tabex doesn't socialize in favor with the medication received by the groups of patients. Vlaev S. Et al. Considers the chance to control the depressive symptoms in five patients with psychogenic and periodic depression in Tabex dosage and application. Tabex was implemented progressively increasing doses, the maximum daily dose is 15 mg. A rapid reduction of the depressive symptoms, the improvement of patients with reactive depression being obtained in the end of week one. In patients with periodic depression - from the end of the second week. As a side result, the inner tension and a minor decrease of blood pressure level are pointed out.
The antidepressant effect of the drug is described with the increase of the catecholamine level, particularly adrenaline that is reduced in patients with depression. The adrenostimulating effect of Tabex has been well known for quite a very long time, but his antidepressant activity is reported by Antonov L. And V. Velkov. The effect of the treatment with Tabex cytisine at the Friedrichsheim Hospital at Berlin shows a decrease of the amount of smokers who've given up smoking with Tabex cytisine. The antidepressant action is confirmed by psychosis in 2 patients that have received Tabex cytisine in the condition of remission.
The result is much like use of the antidepressant psychoforin of patients. These statistics are confirmed by Stoyanov and Yanachkova in psychic patients. The authors say that a sort of depression is suitable for Tabex therapy with quite cautious increase of the daily doses. Paun D. And Franze J. From the Friedrichscheim Hospital at Berlin studied the therapeutic efficacy of Tabex in 266 smokers, by comparing it to a 239 placebo group. Results were followed on the 4th, eighth, thirteenth and 26th week after using Tabex.
Patients with serious intent to give up smoking have priority. On the eighth week, 55% of patients treated with Tabex have stopped smoking, this percent decreasing to 26% in the end of the week 26. The recidivists at the principal group has decreased by twice the number of cigarettes consumed. The writers show the exceptional results of those treated with Tabex when compared to the group treated with placebo and also conclude that Tabex could be successfully used when the patient has a serious intention to give up smoking. Clinical studies on Tabex were also undertaken with Tabex given to 366 smokers with hepatitis and 239 patients treated with placebo.
After completing the full course, 55% of the patients gave up smoking, and also the group with placebo there was a result in only 34 percent. Out of 230 smokers with bronchitis treated with Tabex 85% gave up smoking with Tabex by the end of the 4th week, and after eight weeks - 66% and after 23 months - 46%. These results have been widely documented and utilized in further clinical studies. Tabex cytisine tablets became increasingly more in demand because of the safe and healthier health advantages it provides compared to nicotine based nutritional supplements. Following is the remedy with Tabex Cytisine at a risk group of smokers in Berlin and Potsdam.
Schmidt F. Conducted quantity testing of 14 drugs for 1975 smokers by way of a double blind placebo controlled experiment. Tabex was given to 181 patients overall. Results show that patients treated with Tabex had optimal improvement. 103 patients gave up smoking after 3 months this percent in which it decreased to 38%. Tabex is followed by utilizing the drugs niperli, atabaco, citotal, unilobin, potassium chloride, potassium granulate, potassium citrate, nicobrevin, targofagine, etc. All volunteers received by email the method of utilizing Tabex as to avoid the effect extrapharmacological circumstances therefore the results recorded by the patients themselves in question forms are reliable.
We could draw the following general conclusions regarding the therapeutic efficacy of Tabex: The medication Tabex was analyzed on 1045 volunteers and compared to 400 patients treated with placebo and 1500 patients treated with some other anti smoking drugs. The results obtained show that 55 to 76% of the patients treated with Tabex gave up smoking. These generalized percentages from various studies are statistical significance and therefore are greater that those of the other preparations compared. Tabex showed a maximum impact on the chronic pulmonary diseases associated prolonged smoking, as well as on patients with psychic diseases of a depressive nature.
No serious adverse effects have been discovered by utilizing Tabex Cytisine. A vast improvement of the general condition of the patients was observed due to the discontinuation nicotine. Note: 2 month cycle benefits. Patients who've neglected throughout the first class should repeat the course on the second month.
(Tabex is always recommended to be cycled twice for maximum benefits) . If this fails repeat the course at intervals of 4 to 5 months whilst making the conscious effort to stop smoking with Tabex inbetween.

The benefits of the Laburnum Tree
Tabex is developed naturally on the basis of Cytisine Included in the plant Cytisus laburnum (Golden Rain acacia)
Cytisine and the Laburnum Tree
Cytisine, a plant extract that's often used in eastern Europe to help with cravings of smoking related customs is apparently far better at the job than nicotine replacement patches and gums.
Not to be confused with the DNA building block cytosine, cytisine is an alkaloid extract from the laburnum or golden rain tree (Laburnum anagyroides), which grows in warm climates in various parts of Europe. Cytisine operates by blocking nicotine's accessibility to the brain's pleasure receptors.
Like nicotine, cytisine is toxic when ingested in huge quantities (just as with any other plant established extract) but is secure at low doses. Cytisine has been produced in Eastern European nations for decades largely Poland and Bulgaria and continues to be utilized as a stopping aid in eastern European countries as the 1960s but is mostly unknown elsewhere. Tabex is a Trademark of Sopharma Pharmaceuticals established in Sofia, Bulgaria who invented Tabex and first found it at the 70's.
Clinical studies show that treatment with the groundwork of Tabex® leads to individuals giving up smoking in more than 57% of individuals.
Cytisine has properties similar to smoking but in a lower toxicity rate. Tabex® manifests among the best results to date for the help of giving up smoking naturally!
Tabex® is exceptionally tolerated, and utilized in therapeutic fashion, allows a slow process of giving up smoking with no major side effects. No major side effects are reported with cytisine and just mild cases show slight stomach upset when used in higher doses.

Tolerance of Tabex® tablets
The therapeutic range of cytisine is much greater than that of nicotine.
The daily therapeutic saturating doses of Tabex is 1.5 to 9 mg. The pharmacodynamic results obtained by Barlow et al. show that when applied at much higher concentrations in comparison with those of nicotine, Cytisine causes a parasympathetic block of N-cholinergic receptors. Thus, for instance, the upper cervical ganglion of cat is blocked with 1.17+/-0.07 against 100 nmol for nicotine.
Tabex is known to be very well tolerated. As with all medications and supplements please consult with your doctor.
